CIA SOCIAL BRIDGE GROUP REPORT FOR AGM 2010
Whether it is due to the recession, the exceptionally
long cold winters, or more people becoming aware of the enjoyment of playing
bridge, - whatever the reason - our Group is
looking healthy!
Registered Membership now stands at forty-eight, an
increase of 20% in one year. Members are split into two categories – Regular Players, and a Novices and Improvers Group,
however there is a great deal of overlap between the two categories.
Two Group bridge sessions are held each week, on
Tuesday and Saturday mornings at the Hotel Rutllan in
Additionally, the other purpose of the Group is being
fulfilled – that is to put bridge players in contact with one another by
compiling and circulating a list of our members.
During 2009, the Group received funding from the CIA
to cover the cost of much needed equipment – cards, bidding boxes and
table cloths, which were put to immediate use, and if our increased
membership level is sustained, we may require supplementary purchases during
the coming year.
