CLUB HISTORY
The Club Internacional d’Andorra was established in 1989 under the relevant
Andorran laws, being defined by its Statutes which were prepared in Catalan and
translated into English. Since the
foundation of the Club there have been many changes in
THE CLUB
The objectives of the Club are defined in Article 2
of its Statutes:
“The objectives of the association are the
following:
To organise and promote gatherings and activities of
a linguistic, cultural or leisure nature, especially within
The Club expressly excludes from its objective any
class, political or social revindications”.
As required by its Statutes, the Club is governed,
administered and represented by a Governing Board, consisting of between 8 and
12 members, who are elected by secret postal ballot of Club Members, votes
being counted at the Annual General Assembly.
According to Article 10 of the Statutes, the General Assembly of Members
“is the organ for formation and expression of the Club’s will, its decisions
are obligatory for all members, whenever they are adopted according to these
Statutes”. According to Article 9 of the
Statutes, “the organs of the Club Internacional d’Andorra are the General Assembly of members, the
Governing Board, and the activity groups”.
There are also Club Rules and Rules of Procedure for the Governing Board
and the Executive Committee, appointed by the Board as responsible for the
day-to-day running of the Club.
Every Wednesday morning from
11.00 to 12.30 at the Hotel Ibis, Escaldes, the Club holds a coffee morning. These facilities are made available to the
Club free of cost, it being implicitly understood that most of those present
will buy a coffee or something at the bar.
As a rule, two or more Board Members will be present. There are notice boards with information of
functions and activities arranged by the Club and other organisations of
interest to members. Coffee mornings
have no specific agenda, serving as occasions for exchanges of views on all
subjects, and for enabling new members to meet others.
Social
Activities range from a luncheon or a dinner for a specific reason, through a

enough interested members prepared to put in the time to create and run a
group, which is autonomous and self-financing within the Club.
In

The Club has strong links with local charities, and
organises from time to time such activities as a Car Boot Sale, a Sponsored
